So guys ,how does size of swell at hells mouth compare with your area i have surfed at tywyn when h/m was on the big side and it was
pretty good but closed out alot ,also surfed bath rocks and that was pretty good .
What size swell gets llangrill going , i reckon 12ft + on south wales wave buoy what do you reckon .
How is tywyn on a south east wind for surfing or is it better at aber and south of aber .
Look forward to paying another visit to mid wales soon .
Also what was it like down there last weds the s/e wind chopped up a good swell at h/m did aber far better
Whoah...So many questons!!
Right...Hells Mouth gets more swell than Cardigan Bay does and is generally bigger, but the quality isn't always as good as some of the
spots in Cardigan Bay.
Tywyn isn't the best place..Its usually relatively small, closes out and is badly affected by the wind. It can be OK on a SE though,
but Borth is probably better as the wind in the corner wraps around the hill and blows offshore in a SE.
Aber is good in a SE as the town itslef and the big hill behind it means that the breaks are pretty well protected by SE winds.
Bath rocks can indeed be good.
Not sure about what size swell the wave bouy needs to be showing for Llangywril to work.
Last wednesday (19th Feb 2003) was pretty good by all accounts at the Trap. I was at Borth where there were some good 3 foot sets
coming in held up by the strong offshore winds. But it dropped off as the tide dropped off... The wind at Borth was a howling 30 knot
ENE, not SE. It was SE elsewhere though. This is due to a stange 'Katabatic Wind' that blows down the Dovey valley on cold sunny
winters days.
Hope that answers your questions.

cheers justal it takes me about 15 mins longer to get to
your area than hells mouth so may just be worth a look
when the mouth is out of order .
Funny how places have different winds .
On weds i nearly came down your way but went to h/m
the wind was manic and had to hide well in corner mistake should have come down to mid wales where offshore caught only a couple of
really massive waves as wind was blowing tops all over place .
Does it work on push or do you wait for drop .
So winds from n/e to s/e best then does anywhere work on South or North .
justal btw i am not a kook ,how do i change or do i have to post 30 times or something lol
You have to post 5 times to be upgraded from a Kook!!
I shouldn't worry though, you're in good company!
Borth itself works at most states of the tide. Lots of places work fine in a southerlyaround here, and in the shelter of the cliff at
Borth it can be fine even in a SW. Northerlies and NW's aren't too good though.
