just spoke to neil and he is up for a canoe expedition tomorrow, starting from the estuary and heading up with the tide.
high tide is 14:00 so i reckon set off about 11 maybe.
I will be going and i think spooker is up for it as well. the more the merrier
see you on the water
As theres no wind I think I might join you guys for a day out paddlin'. Have an inflatable canoe that needs
"airing" & can be at the estuary for around 10 am tomorrow.
is this neil's way of tempting the wind gods into blowing a hoolie
sounds like a nice alternative though...see ya all in the estuary.
I can't make it tomorrow... But I'll be up for a similar expedition on Sunday if anyone fancies another trip up-river.
Al.
it's looking like quite a windless weekend al, so another canoe trip on sunday is highly likely(thats if my arms are'nt aching too much
after saturday)......
you've just got too many commitments
Tell me about it.... Got work coming out of my ears at the moment, but still don't seem to have any money!
Sunday sounds good... I shall have to try to find time to patch the holes in my canoe tomorrow amongst everything else.
Al.
what a success; with the launch of 4 boats in the massiff navy ,up the estuary leaving about 11.30 saturday morning ,stopping at about
1.45 ish for lunch and a snooze and back with the outgoing tide and a pretty strong head wind at times.a good time was had by all!
more boats next time?
How far up the river did you get Neil???
Al.
we got to just before the boat yard on the dovey side just before the river goes round the bend, there is one house just at the base of
the hill. most of the time was taken up with finding a deep channel on the ynyslas side.coming back we were against the wind but in the
main channel on the dovey side.
Spooks got some good pics of the expedition...........................where are they Andy ,thought you would have had them on here by
now?

Ahh... Not that far then. The best route is to head straight across to Aberdovey and then follow the coast up-river from there as you
can see the route of the main channel nicely from there. I usually launch from the seafront and then paddle around into the mouth of
the estuary, across to Aberdovey and then hug the coast most of the way up the river... There are some really nice campsites on some of
the little promontories on that side of the estuary, so I usually stop for a bit of exploring a few times before heading off ino the
river properly up to Glandyfi where I stop for lunch... before floating back down with the tide.
Good fun isn't it for a windless day.
Al.
took the camera out in the waterproof housing, took a couple of pics, but the first trip was pretty hard work getting used to the canoe and concentrating on getting where we wanted to go. will take more on the water next time
this was our little stopover spot. really nice grass area just behind where this was taken from, to lie in the sun out of the wind while waiting for the tide to turn
I'll try and get chance tonight, having no waterproof camera mine were all pre-voyage.
Got well and truly toasted too - more sunscreen next time!
excellent little trip....sunday was good too..spent hours paddling in a very calm sea... where are we going next time..?
Looks like I missed out............. Friday night drinking once more interrupting a Saturday of leisure
come on Spooks where are they? was yer smile not correct?
I've lost the cable to connect camera to pc - still looking!
I'm in the process of building a new photo gallery section so you may as well wait until that is ready anyway!
I've got most of it sorted, but have been having trouble integrating the current members with the system... If I can't do it you'll
still be able to upload images to the various photo albums, but won't be able to create your own personal albums.. Lets see how I get
on.
