Loads more wind here than expected this weekend.
Started off Saturday morning with a solid 25-30 knot SW, slightly overpowered but having a great time with my 5m and my little wave
board. Then persuaded Steve to come to Borth as it looked to stay windy all day, so I went back out in the afternoon but the wind had
eased a little so I had a cruise with my 5.7m and big wave board. The wind dropped off even more once Steve arrived and I just managed
to get going with my 6.7m.. Steve managed a few runs as well, but not really enough to satisfy him after a drive from Birmingham....
Sunday looked good though with a 20-25 knot NW first thing so we had an early start. I was perfectly powered up and having a great time
with my 5.7m (rigged as flat as possible) and my big wave board. Steve was overpowered with his 6.2m. My session didn't last long
though as I injured my back and ended up derigging in pain after Steve carried my kit up the beach for me. Steve changed down to his
5.3m and wave board while I went home for some pain-killers and a rest. Steve eventually got off the water around 10.30am once the wind
had dropped to around 15 knots.
Shame about my back which still hurts, but not a bad weekend considering the forecats were only predicting around 13 knots.
I think it was windy everywhere else as well, so I'm looking forward to the diary entries.
Al.
