Does it actually have predictions / forecasts??? I couldn't find any.
Al.
yeah, it is a forecast site, just hover your pointer over the arrow relating to the location and the wind predictions will be displayed on the right for the next few days - a most useful site in your wind predicting arsenal!
Aha...so it is, I wonder which model they are using or if they have built their own... We'll have to keep an eye on its accuracy in
comparison to the others.
Al.
I've been using this one for a while. It's best for the last minute decisions, shall I go, or shall I not? You know, the car's packed you could take the afternoon off, do you commit or not? I find it useful for trying to avoid wasting time. But I guess that's a matter of personal preference.
I have a live feed from the weather bouys that XC weather uses for its 'nowcasts' straight to my desktop... Always have it showing
Aberporth Bouy, Valley and usually Stornoway in Lewis or Ronaldsway on the Isle of Man... Mind you my last minute decisions usually
involve a 30 second wander across to the beach to see what it is REALLY doing!
Al.
tim do you mean you've been using the old xcweather site which is a nowcast rather than this new one which is a forecast?
How the hell do you get the live weather feeds Al? I take it you had to pay for the service.
I never really looked into it but it would of been very handy for me last year as I was often waiting at home for the next hourly
update on XC weather wondering wether or not to go out Hang gliding, Windsurfing etc.
Jonny
Nope, its free. Its just a little application that runs in the background accessing various weather stations and displays the current
readings in my menu bar... Looking at it now, last update of the data was 2 mintues ago.
Al.
jonny surely as a hang glider pilot you use Rob bucks wendy windblows system?
Nah not for my local hill. Its not that accurate and im a cheap skate and dont like to spend a bit of cash to get a weather report. I'd
rather go on tinternet and get one for free.
The majority of HG/PG pilots around the country do use Wendy windblows; its a very good service but the weather station for my hill is
sheltered at bottom of another hill a few K's away so not entirely accurate.
Jonny
Hey ive only just notciced my avatars gone. The Url for that Avatar doesnt work anymore.
I'l have to get another 'appropriate' avatar when I can be arsed
Jonny
If you log on now, the beta testing is over. Dave Billington's gone live with the forecasting version. He says there are going to be more improvements.
