Wooohooo.... what a day. It's not often that I get excited about a flat water session, but with glorious sunshine and the steadiest 20 knot Easterly ever it was just heaven. There wasn't a single gust or lull it was just dead on 20 knots the whole time. Not quite enough wind for any true speed runs but I managed about 26 knots on every single run and did get it up to 27.1 knots at a maximum... Just non stop flat water blasting with the whole estuary to myself.... Where was everyone?

Hi kelvin... I've just been looking through the met office archives for today and it looks as though there was very little wind every... Usually the katabatic wind switches itself off around 11am, but it lasted until early afternoon today and then started up aain in the evenig... Its still pretty windy out there now so I'm hoping for more of the same tomorrow morning... If it doesn't go too southerly.

You guys, have just made me feel real bad.I was due to go down to the est- this wk-nd...but had to stay at home to replace my shot head gasket on the motor..
I could just about put up with missin out on the sunshine..you had....but wind on flat water...thats P'd me off big time :-) regards from the foggy midlands

justal - 20-3-2005 at 19:17

Sorry to hear that.... but it got even better. I've just got back from the windiest session of the weekend, hiting 40 knots at times and with waist high chop I wouldn't really call it flat water... Excellent fun though!

Hope your motor is fixed now!

I just love this time of year when the estuary turns it on in style, the best thing about these spring blasts we get in the estuary is that they are accompanied by glorious sunshine.. The best weekend of the year so far, the skin on my hands are a little worse for wear, I have caught the sun and I am super Stoked!!

If it's doing the same thing tomorow morning which it may well be, I'll be out on the water at around 6am if anyone else is up for it.

I was surfin a Tywyn last wk-nd ....."god "it was cold and the waves were few and far between surfable ...but it keeps ya fit ay?
