I don't think there is an actual West kirby sailing club site, but iwindsurf.co.uk is based in that area and most of its members are WK sailors.

It's the outrageous fee of £11.00 to sail on the lake, which stings every time I have to cough it up. When you get there, if you find the barrier is up, just keep yer head down and carry on driving until you can park behind the biggest van in the car park.....

It's free to sail on the sea, but they'll still try and charge you £11.00 just to park in the car park, cheeky b£$t@rds!!!

You may find some info on the lake on the wirral council website, but most stuff is on the iwindsurf.co.uk site - including my notoriusly unreliable weather forecasts!!

Thats ridiculous.... I can't understand why it's such a popular spot of you have to PAY to windsurf!.... It's an expensive enough sport as it is, without having to pay to actually get on the water... Sounds as though the sea is the best option.

can't remember - but i know they do a half seaon pass which starts pretty soon. I'm setting off there in an hour or so, so will pick up a form and let you have all the details if u want.

and yeah justal - it's really outrageous having to pay £11.00 to go sailing - esp in this day and age of councils supposedly encouraging sport participation. It's even worse to get suckered for £11 to sail on the sea (they tell you it's to use their facilities & car park, but there's generally nowhere else to park for miles), and then find the changing rooms & loos shut when you've finished sailing!!

If your paying to sail then surely they are taking some responsibilty ? do they provide rescue cover etc ?

I'm sure they'd come over in the boat if you were unable to get back - but seeing as it's waist deep there it's generally not to difficult to get back to where you started. In the sea it's just down to the coast guard.

Never made it there yesterday but if you want more info on costs (or current wind!) - ring the guys in the hut on the car park on: 01516252510 - they'll be only too pleased to help you - and then probably try to charge you £11.00.
