Double-whammy at Queen Mary
Bananaman - 11-2-2004 at 15:29

Dunno if anyone knows about this, I'm a member there so get the day for £10. I've already booked my spot.

Double-whammy at Queen Mary on Saturday April 24 2004
Queen Mary Sailsports in South-west London has succeeded in extracting.Peter
Hart and John Hibbard from their global adventures. The two stars will be
running group clinics to improve anyone's level of windsurfing.

The emphasis with Peter Hart, all-round windsurfing guru and technique expert, will be to improve straight-line technique as well as those elusive carve gybes.

John Hibbard (K-007), PWA World Tour regular and Indoor Windsurfing superstar, will be showing-off some of the latest spectacular freestyle tricks and teaching a range of basic to advanced freestyle moves for all levels of ability.

Starboard and Tushingham will have their range of 2004 boards and sails available to demo although participants on the clinics need to bring their own kit. Anyone can turn up on the day, however, as places are limited, booking is advised.

A day's coaching with both Peter and John costs just ¬£10 for Queen Mary members and ¬£20 for non-members. Apr?®s-sail will be celebrated with BBQ, music and maybe a cheeky beer from the bar.

" This day is all about having fun and maybe learning a few shortcuts for a
quick leap forward in ability. Even if you don't want to join in on the
water - fell free to drop in and listen in on the groups, or even find out
what Queen Mary Sailsports is all about" says Simon Winkley from Queen Mary

Please come along for a fantastic day's windsurfing!

there any indoor surfing places in uk?

justal - 12-2-2004 at 07:37

Nope.... But I was watching Extreme Sports the other day and they had an event using one of those wave machines that basically shoot loads of water at a wave shaped piece of concrete which forms a fast barelling wave... If I ever win the lottery I want one of those in my back garden.

I'll stick the Queen Mary demo day in the calendars when I get time... or you could do it for me Bananaman.

I've done it for you. Dunno if anyone would be interested in that. are you all welsh?

justal - 12-2-2004 at 19:35

I think Queen Mary Watersports is closer to lots of people on here than Wales is... and very few people here are Welsh. A few of us live in Wales, but most don't.

Where are you??

Al.

p.s. Thanks for adding it to the calendars... one less thing for me to do!

Bananaman - 12-2-2004 at 20:30

justal - 12-2-2004 at 20:35

badexcuseforasailor - 12-2-2004 at 22:29

Im closer to , Queen Mary than Wales close enough for it to be my local water but it would me traveling on the M25........ewwwwwwwwwwww and Brogborough is only £13 a month amd 20 mins from home

Bananaman - 13-2-2004 at 10:24

Wow £13 a month sounds like a bargain don't it. I've also tried Datchet water Queen Mothers Res and I like it there tried it a few times about a month ago, its nice with water but when its empty it looked like a big soap bowl hehe.

In cornwall I've windsurfed at bigbury bay (not the wavey part hehe), and on stithians reservoir which I though was excellent. I've also 'surfed' (?? well attempted to) and camped at 'Bude' which I guess is near wales. This year I will be trying other places and may even hit the welsh coast for a camping/windsurfing/surfing session hehe.

I forgot one, I also windsurfed at Blackpool Sands which was alright.

I think nobby is cool.

Unfortunately I think 'Nobby' is much better than me.

I sailed at Stithians in June about five years ago and got pelted by hugh hail stones, (Yep it was JUNE).

BUDE near Wales???? I suppose you could say Birmingham is as well !!!

Bananaman - you have an interesting grasp of geography ..... almost as sharp as Rabbit's eye for a suitable parking spot!

If it's the same Bigbury and Blackpool sands I know you were in South Devon!

You should come to the FON Beach meet in Borth at the end of March .... to have a lot of fun and get your bearings!

Cheers

Nick

Bananaman - 13-2-2004 at 21:29

So what this FON beach meet then? Is it ike a weekend bash? Would I be able to camp? If so it sounds good. Where in cornwall is Borth?
