Simple question, has anyone tried those "balance boards" ? I ask since I think it may help speed up my reintroduction into surfing on the flat days.

But they are kind of expensive, and look easy enought to get my Carpenter friend to knock up for me, but just wanted to know what is the "cylinder" made of?

Also if you think they are good, or a waste of time.
