Guys n gals,
Came back from a week in Cornwall, progressed to 'intermediate' surfer, and am now hooked.
Living in London however is over 6 hours away from said place!!
Where is the nearest (and decent) surf spot to London?
Some one said Kent, but then I heard from another it is lack-lustre.
Bournemouth looks 'measily' on the web-shots.
Please help!!!

Joss Bay is one of the beachs most of the surfers go in kent, I can't comment on how good surfing is around here, as I windsurf. There
are a lot beachs in kent and Sussex which are good for windsurfing and kitesurfing so to could learn one of these as another option.
The BBC website has some good links on surfing if you need more info.
Hi,
Have moved to London and been trying out loads of the beaches on the south coast for kitesurfing. Was at Ferring beach (near worthing)
on saturday and the surf was big at high tide, was a great kitesurfing session and there were about 5 surfers out too.
Charlie... Can you submit your reports about the beaches you have tried out to the beachguide section of this site? We don't have many
beaches listed from that part of the world as I don't know them very well, so any info you could supply would be good..
Just go to the beachguide section and click on the
Add a Beach link then fill out
the form with as much info as you can manage... Just leave out the bits you don't know and hopefully someone will posty a comment about
the beach to fill in the gaps.
Cheers.
Al.
No worriees, I'll get on the case later
Looks like we have a right selection of unfortunates then....
Don the surfer
Charlie the kite surfer
... and JohnDoc the (wanna be) windsurfer
It is a shame being a slave to the Mon-Fri grind but I'm sure there's loads of other wanna-be's in London who have difficulty getting
onto the water.
Any advice for the land-locked ones welcome thanks people.
Don, if you're looking for back-up on a day out have a look at Big Friday (lame? don't know)
OR London Surf Club Just an idea.
Anyway, thanks to Al and all the guys and gals on here, we aren’t having a screaming barny like
this lot
I live near london but don't have any problem getting to the water, Take up windsurfing maybe its not as good on a lake but its closer
than driving to the coast every weekend.
We have a few members at Brog that come up from London.
Got some good cycle paths for when the wind don't blow as well

Hey Don! I know exactly what you mean. I'm trying to take up surfing, but it's impossible living in London... Have you heard about the
plans to build an indoor surf centre in London?
Check it out for yourself:

Even I have been living in UK and the surf spot is very far from here so I am able to go for it just once in a month.
