Have you seen the surf reports for this weekend coming - 10 to 12ft and offshore...
What site is this and where?? 10-12ft dude like that sounds like north shore hawaii or Cape Town South Africa...not UK!
LOL...Can't see it getting to 10-12 foot here in Borth somehow!
But SJ's surf forecast for the SW does say:
quote:
Weekend Summary:
'Early days yet and conditions are still not looking altogether reliable yet for the bank holiday weekend. A quick glance shows that Saturday could well have an excellent wave, although Sunday and Monday could well see conditions deteriorate with the winds turning onshore OR they could lighten considerably if the centre of this low pressure passes over. If conditions do stay offshore then it could well get dangerously big with perhaps double-overhead (10-12ft) by Saturday evening and Sunday - no s**t!

How about this weekend? Have seen suggestions of something big or at least something moderate - am trying to decide between welsh coast surfing and solway firth windsurfing - is it too early to tell yet or is anyone ahead of the game???
Why not go to the Welsh Coast and surf and windsurf???
Looks as though there should be some surf around and with wind forecasts of S-SE on Saturday morning, some spots in Cardigan bay could
be firing!
Its still a long way off yet though and all this will change.
Al.
Where you gonna go then zebedee?
Its still looking good.
Al.
Think I'll go to the Gower - best chance of finding the right conditions and shelter that I know of, and if nothing happens, well, its
a booootiful place to spend the weekend!
Still checking those forecasts though...
Its still looking pretty damn fine for the weekend! I think its gonna be around head height around the gower. Probably better conditions on Sunday.
by better do you mean cleaner - if you mean bigger then head high is big enough for me right now - especially as my surfing buddy ain't around this weekend and I'll be 'on my own' - still I doubt very much I'll be the only one in the water if its that big!
No.. not bigger.... just cleaner! (In theory) Still don't take my word for it.. i'm usually wrong

They take the measurements from the back. I just hope the swell has some force behind it.. we've been in a serious wave drought the
last few weeks.
cheers for that - haven't seen that page for a while.
You going in on Sunday?
Hopefully! I'm makin a mad dash to Abersoch on Saturday, and then I have to be back in Manchester for 6pm the same day! its gonna be an
early start!
Then its another early start on Sunday and its either gonna be abersoch again or hopefully if i'm not to knackered Llangenith on the
gower. (its a long nasty drive for a day trip tho ;( )
Look out for a bodyboarder on Sunday that keeps fllipping out of the top of the waves (cannt land em yet!) I have a sticker on the
bottom that looks like a tattoo and says Thodd.
Saturday was good here in the end... Started off miserable, with puring rain and guaty SE winds, but by midday the rain had cleared and
the wind was a nice 20-25 knots cross-shore. It dropped off again later but everyone was on the water for the best part of the day.
Tomorrow is looking good for kitesurfing too. SW Force 4, increasing Force 5 in the afternoon...
Zebedee.. Hope you had a good time on The Gower. I've just read Kelvin's
Diary
entry from Horton and it sounds as though he missed the wind. Hope you got out on the water earlir than he did!
Al.
Just had a surf on the Sunday in the end - at least there was swell but it was coming in all too often! See diary entry for more details
Managed to get out on Saturday in North Wales... it was fantastic!!!!
Not too sure what happened with Sunday!! It was supposed to be better conditions but from where I was, I think the forecasters got it
wrong!
Anyway....glad to see you managed to get out Zebedee!
