Here we go again!!

Things are looking good for Friday.. W-SW Force 6-7. Hopefully I'll be able to get away with my 4.5m as my 5.0m is still at the bottom of Cardigan Bay somewhere.... Although, the insurance company have agreed to look into the claim and a 'marine investigator' is coming to see me on Friday. Looks as though he'll get to see the beach in pretty much the same conditions as the loss occured.

Once he's gone I have to do a few hours work, but should be able to get out on the water by about 1.30pm

Will anyone else be around??

Al.

Not around you, but I will be out all day on Friday!

Got the time off work, planning beaches now!

Just wish i hadn't put my head through the 6.7 while chasing Bjorn at Weymouth (therfore having to buy a new one) and managed to get that 5.0. looks like we're in the same boat Al!

Where will you be then?? Poole harbour, or is it out to play in the waves at Overcombe??

If the forecast for the south coast is anything like it is for here, then you won't be needing the 6.7m anyway... They are forecasting 60-70mph winds here!!!!

I reckon a little flat water blasting in Portland (there is a McD's on the way for breckie!) then cruise around the coast a little to get a few waves. Not sure where at the moment but I fancy Branksome for a laugh........

Hehehe... Just checked the bouys and some of them are reading 40 knots and increasing already, with 17ft waves.... Hold onto your hats, its gonna get a bit lively!!

Time to brush the cobwebs off your 3m sail Al...... but have you got anything to rig it on after your recent loss at sea.....? If not B&Q do a 12ft fence post for around £10..... I'm sure you could fettle that into something usable!

Cheers

Nick

Hey Al, what did the marine investigator think of the conditions today?

justal - 14-11-2003 at 16:47

I didn't go out in the end.... By the time I'f finished with the investigator.... who didn't fancy walking across to the beach for some reason (the fact that standing up outside the house was diffiuclt enough could have had something to do with it!!) and then finished work for the day there wasn't enough water in the estuary (and I had lots to do at home anyway... new carpets!!!!... Oooh! ).

i did have a look at the seafront but it would have been 'Death on a stick' out there as it was as rough as it gets!!!.... Just watching the waves was impressive enough. It would certainly have been windy enough for my 3.4m though... Although as you say I don't think I could rig it on a 430cm mast.

If you went out on the seafront investigator would think you was claiming for a new brain !

You're probably right there... Just been checking the bouys and the Milford Haven one was recording 29.5ft waves earlier today and even the relatively sheltered Aberporth Bouy was reccording 25ft waves... Kind of glad I was too busy to go out really!!
