Anyone thinking of going up to borth for thursday and/or friday? wind forecast is very strong
Hi Toby - Good to see you here.
I'll be out tomorrow (Thursday), Simon is heading over from Shrewsbury and Tom from the uni is planning to come out too.
I'm not sure what time yet though as high tide is at 11am(ish) which makes things a little difficult for the seafront as that's about
the time I'd like to sail really but the water will be up on the pebbles.
Mind you if it really is gusting to 50-60 knots as forecast then it might be better in the estuary anyway as the seafront might just be
a little too mad, especially at high tide.
What time are you planning to be here?
Al.
I was planning on getting there for about 10ish or so. What do you think about the wind direction for the estuary, wind guru says wsw?
If its going to be blowing that strongly like you rightly said it might get a bit mad for the sea front so id prefer maybe to sail
there.
Toby
Tell you what - Pop in here when you get to Ynyslas and we'll take a look and see where looks best. A good option might be to launch
from the estuary and sail out upwind through the channel so that we can sail off the far northern edge of the beach.
That way we'll get the best of the wind some flat(ish) water in behind the bar and some waves to play on if we fancy it. I'm sure we'll
be able to find somewhere suitable to sail.
Al.
It's a solid 40 knots here at the moment and the sun is out!
Gonna be a crazy one today!
Al.
Make that 50 knots! Not sure I have a small enough sail.
Al.
That was a little breezy!
Al.
Looking good again this morning, Westerly and 25-30 knots. Should be much more fun than yesterday.
Going to head out on the seafront at around 9am.
Al.
Yep it was very good, we did the 7.30am-9 stint to avoid the high tide and due to work !
Don't worry, I took over from 9am so the wind and waves didn't go to waste!!
Al.
Hey Toby, just a quick note to say good to meet you and Tom on Wednesday and an enjoyable afternoons sail on the estuary when it looked
a folorn hope at noon!!!
Al you will be glad to know I have now sailed the estuary and not just off the beach!
Andy (one of the 2 Andy's that "are the only 2 people you know that sail off the beach front in an Easterly"!)
Ps have you managed to get any nearer to your 40 knots yet?
No where near the 40 knots yet.... But there is a NE forecast for the weekend so if Ivor decides to make an appearance there could be
an attempt on it!
See.... The estuary isn't so scary after all!
Al.
Really enjoyed it, think the wind got up to about 18knts by 4 so ideal for me and as the tide came in the runs got longer :-) now if i could just get in those bl**dy straps I would be content....for now!
You'll get there!
I'm glad it only got to 18 knots though otherwise I would have thought I'd missed out. I usually wait until its about 25 knots before I
HAVE to be on the water.
I'm kind od hoping that Ivor will kick in over the weekend along with the forecasted NE's, but it isn't looking as good as it was.
Al.
so whats everyone thinking about tommorrow,,will it blow,,fingers crossed
Windguru isn't looking good for borth for the next week but I'm guessing the estuary is slightly different? I hope so I wanted to get out a couple of times before going back to work and the real world :-(
It's windy at the moment 20-25 knots here, 25-30 in the estuary.
Wetsuit is in the tumble drier and I'm waiting for it to get a little lighter out there then I shall head down for a sail.
Al.
There's no wind at all down south - Hope it hangs around for you up there.
J.
It was pretty good out there - Still windy now as well.
Al.
Yep it was well worth it Al, it was 12pm by the time I came off the water - what little remained of it. But no wind at all in Aber or
here in LLanafan - only in the estuary it seems. Trawscoed weatherstation measured 7-8 this morning when the estuary had 20-24! Will
there be anything tomorrow morning?? Forecast looks like nothing much... but thats what today showed too! I don't understand
easterlies at all !!
Neal
well I may take the risk tomorrow and come over and dust off the kites.
It was cranking in the estuary at around 2pm,,was there with family and no kites :-( definately not listening to any forecast and heading down fully armed tommorrow
