New Toys
justal - 6-6-2006 at 06:50

I haven't been out on the water for a while as all my toys are broken, but I now have some ordered an on the way... In the post should be:

Gun Hammer 4.0m sail
Gun Hammer 5.0m sail
Gun Select Wave RDM 100% carbon 430 mast
Teknosport 145-205 wave boom
An RDM Mast extension
A new deck plate and base
A pulley hook

Quite a lot of kit, but the price was pretty good considereing it is all brand new 2006 kit. I'll let you know what it looks like it arrives, and then I'll be praying for wind again!

Im in the same boat as you Al. Not been out for ages cos of broken/lack of kit.
Im short of a boom, mast, UV joint and a 6.0metre ish sail after having to ditch my rig last time I was out. Was waiting really until I can afford to buy some modern kit but that’s gonna be a while as a cars on my next agenda.
Real frustrating when conditions are perfect and you cant get out there.

cant believe that you have bought yet more kit ,or that you have again trashed all your kit Al. must cost you a small fortune!

justanna - 6-6-2006 at 15:22

Tell me about it! And somehow the shop has my credit card details rather than Al's!...I'm sure it was a honest mistake really

I don't think Ive worn out any windsurfing kit out yet.
Bought an ex demo 8.5 last year as it was a good price but old 8.5 is still sailable. I had a new boom as well as the bic one I was using was starting to lose the grip but still usable. The last addition to the toy box was a new bike. There has been that little wind here this year the old one was just about worn out and the fact I was gonna injure myself when the lack of rear suspension spat me off big time

I know, although it has been a while since I last bought anything... The kit that has been 'wrecked' was a 5m sail that almost two years old, so has seen close to 100 outings on the water. The mast I'm replacing is actually still going strong (I might try selling it to Jonny!) but I wanted an RDM mast instead. The boom that I'm replacing is a couple of years old too... actually I'ver a few that are still intact but I thought it was time for a new one (Again, maybe something there for you Jonny!). The other bits and bobs are just things that wear out now and then... Better to replace them before they break rather than have a big swim one day!

Not sure why the money came off Anna's credit card not mine!!
But it all cost less than some manufacturers charge for a single big sail and less than a single bow kite!

Oh... It has all arrived already as well, I just haven't had the chance to unwrap it all yet.

got to agree with you Al those bow didly doo kites are way over the top!

Spooker - 6-6-2006 at 17:17

NOT wishing to fill a loooong thread with sniping and mindless blather that ruins some of the OTHER forums.....

..but you can get a 12m bow from around £750 nowadays, yet when I bought my 12m Cabrinha C kite - that was £840 nearly 3 years ago! and most of the others weren't much different then - and I shopped around.

Prices haven't changed much since then, have a browse on the web, 2006 12m C kites are generally between £700 and £900.

And of course when you buy a bow - its replaces at least 2 of your C kites

And it makes you more attractive to women

And increases your brain capacity too!!

(at least that what the little voices told me.....)

shem - 6-6-2006 at 17:36

Im pretty sure 750 is average price for a 11 or 12 bow, so must agree with you spooker. For the amount of fun youll get from it, its well worth it, I recon. Before they came out, C kites where £700 anyway.

Ive just treated my self to a 13 meter ozone instinct, sat waiting to fly, just need some wind!!!!And am just about to order some nice new 06 crazy fly boards, so my account has had a hammering as well!!!!! No food this month!

justal - 6-6-2006 at 18:25

Don't forget.. He who dies with the most toys wins!!

Now That I have some packaging from my new toys I can send my 5.7m sail back for repair as well, so I'll soon have a complete quiver again.. And then it'll be time to start thinking about boards.

Although they are a little more expensive!

I'l take you up on that offer Al cos being realistic, its gonna be autumn before I can afford some decent kit and your second hand equipment would be ideal till then! Only prob is I cant put a date on when im gonna be next down in Aberystwyth. It maybe a months time or so before im next down. Keep pestering me to come down and I will when theres a good forecast!

OK Jonny, The stuff isn't going anywhere so next time you're here we'll have a look through it to see what I have that will be of any use.
