had some great sailing there last year. if i can persuade my other half her birthday isn't omportant I'll be there!
Yeah, lets hope there lots of wind again... Although I'm not sure why they say they'll be in the estuary if it goes Westerly!!!!...
I'll be on the seafront if it's Westerly! E or NE and I'll be in the estuary.
Al.
Yep, I'll be there if the forecast looks good.
Let's hope the wind's not from the east because there won't be much water in the estuary........
Saturday HT 08:05 4.2m LT 14:50 1.2m
Sunday HT 08:31 4.4m LT 15:16 1.1m
Cheers
Nick
The tides are pretty small though so there might be enough water in the channel even at low tide....just like last year.
Al.
So, only a month to go until the demo day... Who's coming?? Are any of those that sometimes travel to Borth going to come along and
join in the fun?? BEFS, Spencer, Wes etc???
I'll start with the wind dances early, but I guess even if there isn't enough wind there will be lots of new shiney toys to look at and
drool over and I'm sure there'll be a BBQ.
Al.
i might make a guest appearance!! could even host a drop in surgery!
will be back up at uni then so should imagine i'll be on the beach at some point over the weekend.
Careful mind Rob, you'll end up wanting to take some of the new toys home with you!.. Can your stucent loan afford for you to
attend!!!
Al.
Does anyone know what kit will be there?? How much of it? Is it free to try it or do I need to give them some cash /deposit? Will there
be enough to go around or will I be waiting around all the time... Is it worth bringing my own kit or not?
SV.
Well I'm still planning on it at this time, but its going to be a wait for the weather affair.
as for what will be there, last year we had equipment from (an I might have missed some)
JP
F2
Starboard
Tabou
Tushingham
Gastra
Arrows
and its a case of wondering up to the setup area and grabbing whatever combo you want. Its free, and no deposit required.
There was loads of kit last year. Enough to go around, but some waiting was required. I take my own kit anyway, just so you can be sure
that you'll sail. But then I can be an anti-social git and want some water to myself!

If there's any wind I'll be down for a day, maybe two. If there's hardly any wind I'll probably still make the trip anyway ;-)
Like Wes says there is loads of kit to try and it's all free to try out and rigged up for you ;-)
The demo is either in the Golf Course car park or the estuary depending on conditions, just look for the flags. They are usually set up
by 11.00am depending on how much beer is downed the night before and they sometimes bring along a well known sailor. One year I had
John Skye rigging up for Jules, nice ;-)
I find it's well worth taking your own kit as well just in case the conditions are good and you just want to get out there and don't
want to wait for kit. I usually sail my own kit then have a go on some new toys as well.
Cheers, Andy.
Yep, there should be lots of kit there, Wes mentioned most, but did miss out Rushwind and probably a few others. There is usually
enough to go around as well, but you may have a bit of a wait if there is something in particular you want to try out... Often people
tend to find something they like and then want to stay on it all day!! If this is the case I'm sure if you asked the organisers they
would make sure you got a go on the board you were interested in.
As the others have said I tend to take my own kit as well... Mainly becauseI'm a bit of an early bird and if the wind is blowing at
first light I'll want to get out on the water... The demo kit isn't set up by then. In fact it can take them a whilt to get all the kit
set up so there can be quite a bit of waiting around first thing... You may as well rig your own kit and get out there while they are
setting up the demo kit....Just in case the wind drops.
You will of course need your own wetsuit and harness.
Al.
Thanks, it sounds excellent. If there's some wind I may well make the trip.
SV
Not too long now.... Don't forget to keep doing the wind dances!!
Anyone planning on making a long weekend of it if the wind looks promising?
Al.
Jules and I have worked ourselves passes from the kids, so if the wind is looking good we might make a weekend of it (not a long weekend though)...
I know its too far off to start speculating but at the moment the long range forecast for the Friday looks promising.
Al.
hi ALL,
Friday is looking good at the moment, if theres a good forcast for the weekend, and im not still walking wounded by then,. i will
make the trek up, its been far to long!!!
Guru lately has been giving good forcasts for every thurs/fri if youve looked the weekend before but as each day gets closer to that
thurs the seem to knock off 5knts a day, so by the end of the week its been 10ish knts, anyone else noticed this???
I think that right for all the forcasts Spencer just seems to be the way they do it. I think they do it to keep joe public happy, they
forcast wet and/or windy if it happens they get it right if they get it wrong joe public think this is nice forcast was for wet and
windy.
Either that or its just to piss us off bigtime
long range from what i've seen looks a bit iffy for you guys but could be ok for us kiter,; what do you think Al? are we going to get more converts?
Possibly Neil.... Although with modern windsurfing kit windsurfers can actually get up and planing earlier than kitesurfers I think...
I saw someone out fully planing the other day in about 6 knots... Not my kind of windsurfing, but it is possible.
Al.
I talked to BEFS he is not going. I am going so far, along with my brother in law who sails at Cannock, and maybe one other.
Tim
I'll be there on Friday (from 11ish) and Sunday. Anyone else planning a Friday session?
Staying with some mates in Aberdovey on Fri+Sat night(Dovey Inn) and will be trekking up Cadair Idris on the Saturday...... unless the
wind's blowing and I can't resist a sail instead!
See you there ... what time does the demo normally get going? Can't wait ..... currently selling my Techno on eBay so might actually be
buying something!
Cheers
Nick
Usually starts aboutt 11.00am they need a bit of time to rig up. Mind you if its forecast to be windy they might be earlier ;-)
Staying over Sat night so will be there bright and early Sat am for the weekend....
I'll be out on Friday afternoon Nick.... Maybe Friday morning as well if its raining.
Al.
Hi all,
im 95% sure i can get up for the weekend, forcast looking good, my ribs feel alot better today but still not risking sailing untill
the weekend even though its 25knts out at the mo & yesterday too & probably tomorrow!
Agony
Will be good to see you again Al... & meet little Morgan
Not going to make it I'm afraid. Other commitment, and the total withdrawing of all passes let alone the funds to buy new toys has been
threatened
Have a good time over there.
you show her who's boss Wes! ;-)
p.s I understand ... my three day ticket to Borth has cost me around the same time in DIY jobs that have to be done before I leave!
p.p.s why didn't I take up windurfing before getting hitched.
p.p.p.s if you haven't already got kids, don't!
I tried to tell her who's boss, and it soon became clear.
She is!
whats all these tickets thats tlalked of? if the wind is up you just go surely! i do

The creche facilities could be under threat here!
Dare I say it..... The wind is still looking good for tomorrow, Westerly in the morning, veering NW and picking up in the
afternon/evening. It's likely to be raining and feeling a little chilly though. (And I still only have a summer suit... brrrr.)
There should still be enough around on Sunday morning as well, hopefully!
See you all on the beach.
Al.
