Jen - 28-1-2004 at 18:25

I was just trying to sort out all my photos and saw this one again. I'll give you ten guesses who it is.....(though you probably won't need that many:tongue3d

Er.....crap! The picture's a bit big isn't it!!!

And I seem to have posted it twice. Can one of the threads be deleted at all Al?

I remember this day I cut my feet to shreds so put on boots for the first time in ages, then having not adjusted the footsrtaps properly I tried to catch him, missed the back strap and put my head straight through my 6.7.

I then thought "stuff it, the 8.0 is still rigged i'll have him with that" and damn near killed myself in a HUGE wipeout that left me lying some distance from my kit, dazed and utterly beyond movement in the middle of the harbour. I got to the shore and wondered why everyone was looking at me a little oddly as I de-rigged - only to find blood all over my face from a great gash at the top of my nose!

Happy days.........

sounds fun! How about a full face helmet? probably not the done thing on a wind surf? I'll stick to the sail-less version!

Full face helmets on windsurfers are .

Aren't they Al?

Especially if you start messing about high above the water.

There you go Jen... is that better. It should load about 300 times quicker now as well !!

It looks as though its a shame Big Bjorn wasn't at Portland yesterday. Have you seen the photos Spencer posted... Who knows, had Bjorn been there he might just have beat the World Speed Record.

Bodhi... as you've probably worked out from Daves post I always wear a full face helmet whilst windsurfing (and kite-surfing). Its kind of my trade mark these days, but it all stared when I kept knocking my teeth out and I decided a full face helmet was cheaper than dentistry.

I wear an Ice Hockey helmet as they are light weight, have better protection than the ones made specifically for surfing / windsurfing, float and best of all are pretty cheap.

Cheers Al....I'll know for next time I post a picture to not have it so big!

justal - 2-2-2004 at 17:32

Thats OK... Try to keep them to around 450 pixels wide and all will be fine... If not I'll demote you back to a Kook!!!!

Is it not disorientating trying to ride a windsurf with a full face on? I personally would rather have a full face helmet for almost all FON activities for exactly the same dental concerns. Just wondered if it makes things awkward when you bail?

justal - 2-2-2004 at 22:11

No, its fine. Its a little weird at first I suppose, but you soon get used to it and now it feels strange to be out there without it on.

If Ice Hockey players can manage to do the stuf they do with one on then theres no reason why it should be disorientating whilst windsurfing etc...

Plus it looks pretty hardcore!!
