Hi Al,
I know the ringer if someone is in the chatter box is not so easy to set up. But what if you posted the users who are chatting online
in some kind of status bar on the forum's main page. This could be similar to the little statistic there is about who is online and who
has been online during the day. I am sure this would raise the number of people in the chat room and make for more interest in visiting
this site in general.
Joe
Easy Peasy.... just give me five minutes...
Now that I've said that, it'll no doubt take me 5 days!!
Al.
It's done, is that OK.... The number of people chatting and the names of the chatters is shown at the bottom of the page just below
the who's online list.
Trouble is, I haven't had chance to check it as there's no one chatting yet, so it might not work!!!
Al.
Hi Al,
thanks. That went quick! I like it and it went faster than it took me to answer your announcement that it was done.
I couldn't check if it works, though. But I'll just trust your computer workmanship.
Cheers
Joe
Hi Al,
just gave it a little try. As far as I can see it does not count me when I am in the chatterbox by myself. Shouldn't it then say "one
member chatting" ?
Joe
Nope.... You can only be in one place at any one time. The list of people in the chat room is onyl updated when you refresh the page.
In order to refresh the page you have to be on that page, which measn you aren't in the chat room!!!
It doesn't work out who has the chat window open in the background, only those who are actively in it!!
Al.
What a bummer, of course, if I just wait for someone to join I am not actively in the chat room but rather have it open in the
background....
