Greetings from Isla Coche!
Been here 4 days and this is the first opportunity I've had to sit by the pool and get online. First 3 days have all been 13m weather,
today there is nowt.
Its a bit strange launching into the sea with a bang offshore wind, and the first few runs are pretty nerve-racking, but you soon
forget about it. The safety boats are clued up but I've avoided being picked up so far.
Its hot - well hot, 30C+ every day, luckily the a/c in the apartment is working well so a small haven of coolness to revert to when it
gets too hot. The sea is not very refreshing - warm bath temperature. The backdrop is spectacular, as is kiting through flocks of
pelicans.
Only downside is the mozzies, apparently there's been a plague of almost biblical proportions in Venezuela in the last few weeks,
venture out at sundown at your peril! The island has sold out of insect repellent too.
Ah well a small price to pay for tropical paradise with kiting on your doorstep.
Its 09:30 so I'm for a splash across the pool to the bar
Hi Spooks.
sounds like your having a grand time.
am sure you will regale us all with your tales of derring do on your return.
see you in a week or so.
Mark
It must have been a long drive in the van to get there spooks - hope your 12v fridge is working well in the tropical weather!
glad to hear you doing well spooks; missing out on a great cold spell here
Hey Sppoker - sounds idilic - say hi to Christian and Karine
catch ya soon
Rich
Yeah nice to hear from you Spooks,
Have a good one!
But nice to hear from you to Rich, I thought you might be in Mumbai !!!!!!!!
Got back to blighty this morning and goodness isn't it COLD
Going to take something special to tempt me back into a sea thats colder than the Pina Colda's I've been drinking the last few days!
Unfortunately after a promising start the wind gods were just too chilled to do much, and only 5 or 6 days of the 13 were kite-able.
Still managed to cover a bit though, finally got the hang of frontloops without wrecking the kite, managed to land my first kiteloops
and backloop kiteloops and even tried a raily or two.
Sadly on the last day my (new) 13m died horribly. It was floating in the water after I'd failed to land some heroic move or other, and
a New Zealand gent rode straight through it. So one shredded kite and very likely a serious repair bill
Great break though, and top venue for those who fancy practising there stunting in mirror flat water. Jan-May are the windiest months
though, so maybe another visit....??
Anyway off to turn the central heating up a bit more
Hi Spooks, if you wanted warm water to ease those chilled winter blues you should have been at Tony's party this weekend.
Penny hired out a luxury pine lodge replete with generous 8 person hot tub which got a lot of use on friday !
SO! where are the pictures?? Rub a dub dub 8 men in a tub!!
not ALL of the 8 were of the male variety, there were 4 females in attendance.
photos are available to the highest bidder !
