Oh, and there's no water

dunk - 1-11-2006 at 19:36

Shem dude,
Come say hello to me if your around!

jon d hat - 1-11-2006 at 21:13

If your gaging for a sail this weekend, you should look at the forcast for brany or old hunstanton.14-16 knts sat 16-18 knts sun westerly. You'll get a sail possibly big kites though

shem - 1-11-2006 at 21:20

Just thought Id pull up next to a pub somewhere Justal. Then hang around in my Van till about 2ish, then go and do something for a couple of hours, then return to my Van. Fancy it any one???? Hehehehe.

Im off to the bike show in the NEC really.

jon d hat - 1-11-2006 at 21:40

If you hang around next to a pub for a few hours round here, you,ll get yourself nicked for loitering with intent. And as for going off to do 'something' for a couple of hour, well..... there ain't too many sheep in Brum! LOL

shem - 1-11-2006 at 22:09

Ill have to russle a few into the van before coming them.

Spooker - 1-11-2006 at 22:10

Where you guys setting your forcasts from?? - The forecast I'm looking at is simply excellent for the weekend - 30knots and 29C!!

Oh......

Its the forecast for El Gouna - silly me

By the way, di dI mention to anyone I'm off to Egypt tomorrow??

shem - 1-11-2006 at 22:44

Bar steward!

cabte - 1-11-2006 at 23:07

Sunday looking the best for Blackpool .

I will be there with the demo kites..

Jonny - 1-11-2006 at 23:37

I might be Blackpool way Sunday Cabte so I wouldn't mid tryin one of your kites if your there. Think everyone will be at the kiteshop in Fleetwood for the morning as its dead Westerly. Failing that, it will be Squires gate in the afternoon for low tide

jon d hat - 2-11-2006 at 16:48

Wind still holding for the east coast. Sunday looking better at the moment.

Anyone up for a sail, poss day trip for Sunday?

Sunny all weekend too

mNeil - 3-11-2006 at 13:20

Dan you go down the A14 to hunstanton or brancater, bit of a boring run though but take aabout the same time as going to borth from birmingham.
how about going up 't north around blackpool.

danh - 3-11-2006 at 13:29

Cheers for that, blackpool sounds good often thought about making the trip up there. Especially for a weekend so a few beverages can be taken on board

jon d hat - 3-11-2006 at 19:29

M6, A14, at J13 head for Peterborough on A605, Head for Wisbech & Kings Lynn on A47, FromKings Lynn head north on A149. Through Hunstanton to Old Hunstanton turn Left just after the large green where the lighthouse is and there is parking next to the hotel.

This beach works in Southwesterly' round to Northwesterly. You will be able to see kites from the main road but you'll be better off travelling about another 5-6 miles and checking Brancaster.

From Hunstanton carry on down the A149 to Brancaster and as soon as you enter the village, turn left and drive for half a mile to carpark. Carpark attendant is named John and if you tell him your kitesurfing, he'll only charge you a quid.

Works best in East to west winds, but at mid to low tide its ok from any direction as large Knee to waist high lagoons form. I much prefer Brancaster, but if your looking for evening entertainment, you'll be better off in Blackpool.

Hope this is some help

jon d hat - 3-11-2006 at 19:40

Still forcast 14 knts westerly Sat and 16knts Sun.

danh - 3-11-2006 at 20:57

Hey jon, where abouts on the east coast do you go?

Always thought about going across to the east side but dont know where the good spots are to sail, normally end up going to devon if i fancy a change.

Cheers

Dan

jon d hat - 3-11-2006 at 22:26

Looks like we're on for the day trip on Sunday to Branny, that is me, Steveo and Nick R

High tide 9.00 so lagoons should be working by 10.-10.30

Any more ov d'massif gona join us or is that extra 20 k from Brum a step too far

shem - 3-11-2006 at 23:21

Not me, I still recon brums the go!!!

danh - 4-11-2006 at 10:15

Cheers jon, think i might give that a go one weekend.

IS it just om my computer or does my original question on this thread keep getting pushed down?

Enjoy the show shem, i was all geared upto go but my old man should be coming out of hospital today so im gonna stay home.

mNeil - 4-11-2006 at 10:34

cant get out on sunday as mum and dad are coming for the day

jon d hat - 4-11-2006 at 10:37

No worries Dan, It,s not my first choice as West coast has such a beautiful backdrop and also where d pykies/massif hang out, there is always a friendly atmosphere and you know we all watch each others backs.

Branny is a quick fix, good for the day out, gets you on the water when W coast ain't working. Takes me 2-2 1/4 hrs from Cov if the traffics ok.

That said, I av ad a few absolutely epic sails up that neck of the woods!

Where do you go in Devon? I used to spend most of my weekends down that neck of the woods, used to stay at Croyde for the party but surf breaks were jammin. About 2 years ago, Saunton was shut to kiters and last time i was there I ended up sailin Westward Ho and Putts. I have heard that Saunton may be back on now??

danh - 4-11-2006 at 15:54

Im the same with devon i only go if it aint working in dovey/borth. I go to dawlish or exmouth paignton etc, In 2 years of kitesurfing though i have yet to find anywhere that has such a god kiting atmosphere as dyfi/borth. As you say everybody looks out for each other over there and everyone is always up for a laugh. Before getting addicted to kiting i used to spend most my weekends in cornwall searching for waves. Went there on holiday for the first time in 2 years this summer, and found out id completely lost interest in surfing all the locals were arse holes. But the same went for kiting, i was absolutely shocked when i went kiting at par and all the locals made it as hard as possible for me to kite. NEver again. Pikeys and the massif rule. Cheers jon catch ya soon

jon d hat - 4-11-2006 at 18:52

Find myself agreeing with you there Dan

Before surfin was on the fringes of becoming 'all the rage' there was a similar atmosphere generated by small factions of die hards and could be compaired to what we have with d massif/pikeys now. I think that we're lucky that the locals are so cool with us weekend migrants 'Huge shout'

Kitesurfing is so freespirited, hope I never lose the passion, or disapear up my own orifice

justal - 4-11-2006 at 19:01

It has to be said though that here in Borth and the surrounding beaches, there is still a fairly friendly atmosphere amongst the surfers, not quite the same as with the windsurfers / kitesurfers as there are always a few with the 'localcs only' mentality, but generally speaking I find it quite freidnly when out surfing too... Although I do tend to avoid the more crowded breaks simply because I would rather surf on my own.

Al.

jon d hat - 4-11-2006 at 19:10

Yeh, thing is that you,ve got quite an expance of water there and not too many users. Having a few people about enhances safety. I have heard that people can still get shirty on the popular breaks???

It's also a good one that KS & WS get on there, bar the obligitory P!$$ taking as I've heard that there are beaches, mainly south coast, where they hate one another and segrigated sailing areas are in force???

[Edited on 4-11-2006 by jon d hat]

justal - 4-11-2006 at 19:15

Yep, and there are a few people who don't even like you mentioning some of the breaks.. Silly really at there are few (if any) real secrets about these days.

I'm certainly glad I don't live at Croyde Bay anymore, it was bad enough back then, but I couldn't handle it now that I've mellowed!

Al.

cabte - 4-11-2006 at 19:16
