well it looks like the wind is going SE so starting off at black rock ,porthmadog and if the wind is very easterly will travel on to
pwhelli but will have to stay on the beach at black rock.
can anyone out there tell the dunksta to head down there for friday evening as we are setting off after the traffic settles friday
evening.
i've just spoken to him at the beach neil and i said i would txt him the wind forecasts, having read this now too i'll let him know to
give you a call
rob
Just spoken with the dunksta, and he reckons dovey will be better in the SE...
So is it worth me driving up to black rock for Se'ers. I generally dont sail here on a SE, because its usually gusty as! What are black rock conditions for this weekend. Waves, flat water, cross shore???????
all of the above Shem, it can be a great place and park on the beach as well..if the weather holds i'll drive up saturday morning but i'm coming of nights, so wont be there that early
i thought black rock won't work because of the hill/mountians on the east side. dunk seems keen on dovey. i think all the spots this
side are gonna be gusty.
may be about other wise nice van hunting inland.
nice swell at the moment. can't wait for tomorrow
as shem says ; SE dovey is as guwsty as ,i've tried before and agree totaly.
black rock tends to work ok as the wind as usual chooses the path of least resistance, tends to come around the hills and be sucked up
with the sea breeze, so usually not too bad for gusts. if however it does swing too easterly and comes over the hills as Chris says,
then we go 15mins down the road and sail in the bay at phwellington; never get the spelling! this bay faces east and the wind has
sorted itself out by the time it travels across the water and hits the bay.
the bay is sheltered on the right ( the ocean side ) for about half a mile with a huge groin; the entrance to the marina so we get flat
ish water and also shallow water. push out beyond the groin and then we can get HUGE swells. it is a great spot , the colonel ,graham
,nick and myself have been there many times and had great days there before we were introduced to borth.
directions ; as you approach pffelliii see and cliff outcrop on the right ,turn into the marina over a small bridge. straight on for
about 100 mtres see a dingy park on the left and car park opposit. you will not be able to see the sea as it beyond the dunes.park up
in the car park ,beware the height restriction on th4e entrance and walk down between the duns to the beach.
please walk to the left for about 50mtres before setting up as that is the arrangement with the council.
but first we try black rock, oh this will prabably be the last weekend before the ban comes into force there.
anyway there's not much wind showing for borth area on saturday!
