andy have sent you some u2u mail; although justal has now sorted out my access problems.

leonardo - 20-1-2005 at 21:58

If the wind promises to blow about F4 sunday NW then i'll be down for the afternoon!!!

andy B - 20-1-2005 at 22:09

hi Al if you go to work it might be windy, then again when you live that close its nice to pick and choose

justal - 20-1-2005 at 22:10

That looks unlikely at the moment... Cold be a decent wind early in the mornings though. With temps around 0¬?C and sunny skies we could get a blast from the katabatic wind that bwill coincide with high tide in the estuary... Will be could though. Lucky if it gets above freezing at that time of day.

I'll be out at first light if the NE's kick in though, and then off to work to warm up!!!

Al.

katabatic,! i need to look this strange word up

justal - 21-1-2005 at 07:10

Do a search for it on this site.... No doubt theres an explanation somewhere!

Its basically the opposite of an anabatic wind

mNeil - 21-1-2005 at 09:16

andy katabatic winds are those that come from the higher ground to the low graound and are composed of cold air. in the summer you can get them rolling down the hills as the sun goes down, very dangerous when launching paragliders etc.
now if it does go katabatic on saturday morning in the estuary it could be well windy and great fun,so go there first! see you and look forward to seeing your new motorhome.

andy B - 22-1-2005 at 14:50

cheers for that neil. waiting for kathy to finish work then heading for borth

justal - 22-1-2005 at 16:13

Its about 20 knots here at the mo, ENE. Think I'll give it a miss for today though as I've been working most of the day and still have a few things to sort out here.... I'm sure the rest will do me good.

Al.

mNeil - 22-1-2005 at 18:28

col123 - 22-1-2005 at 19:50

hey neil i dont know if the bok can come hes got all that old kit..hes just so last year

justal - 22-1-2005 at 21:00

Lets hope the wind holds out... its 25-30 knots out there at the moment!!!

I'll be out in the estuary for an early sesh if theres still wind in the morning. High tide is around 7am, so I shall be there then if theres wind.. See you on the water. The wind is forecast to go Northerly later but there could still be enough around if we're lucky.

Al.

rob - 22-1-2005 at 22:43

do you think it will be calm enough to try a 11.5m and 13m out in the estuary?

justal - 23-1-2005 at 08:29

Yep...Theres no wind whatsoever at the moment... It just stopped around midnight! Grrrr....

Al.

rob - 23-1-2005 at 09:45

justal - 23-1-2005 at 10:35

justal - 23-1-2005 at 11:59

There should be a few people about though. Shem is there and I think I saw Col on his way there earlier.

Still very little wind though.

rob - 23-1-2005 at 15:11

well so much for the 12 kts NE'ly in the estuary, did get the kites up but it wasnt much fun! couldn't be arsed to walk around to the sea front in the end but it did seem that a few people were out and having more success than we did!
