Robs Lost Post (home made kitesurf board)
justal - 17-9-2004 at 06:25

I've found your post Rob.... buried deep inside the database on the old server, whereas the site is now accessing a database on the new server. You must have posted as the database was transferred from on to the other.

quote:
yeah i bit the bullet (is that even a phrase?) and spent a whopping £16.98 on a massive sheet of 12mm plywood, hoping to turn it into a kitesurf board in the end.

I've opted for a length of 155cm, max width 40cm. Bought some bindings from powerkiteshop, and i'm cutting up an old camping roll mat up for the cushiony pads for your feet. i'm also using the leash from my mountain board. (mega budgeting!)

looks alrite so far, ive cut out the profile and have got dad painting some stripes on it as we speak.

aptly named the titanic, cos its probably a fair assupmtion that i'm gonna sink like a bitch.

pictures will be posted shortly if anybody's interested.

won't be long before i'm cruising the waves at borth (or will at least be watching my pride and joy float off to ireland!)

at least al with have no reason to nag me about "getting on the water" now

anybody have any idea what the weather is doing this weekend? hoping to move back up to aber for a couple of weeks kiting before term starts.

Looking forward to seeing the board, and seeing you get up and going on it. It sounds quite big, so there should be enough wind about over the wekend for you.

I got to see Robs board in the flesh today... Looks good, best looking of the home-made boards I've seen so far (sorry Chris, you just didn't add the finishing touches to yours!). Will have to give it go once the wind eases off a little.

The best home-made board i've ever seen, and I am sure the borth MASSIFF crew will agree would be that designed by ZEE GERRRMAN...
Itz a double edged sword with symmetrical pintail design both ends, gauranteed to kiiiiiiiiiiiiiill you if you have a wipeout!!!

I doesn't have the go-faster stripes that Rob's has though.

Have to quote Axel the German guy on what he said about his board,

1, Its very cheap

2, It goes up wind

3, If you lose it you make another one

4, And if you get cold, you burn it !!!!!!!!!

He seems to go on it ok , but I think if he hits you with it, he'll kill you!!!!!

Its a twin tip killin machine,

Port ,Starboard rules do not apply !!!

Be warned !!!!!!

Hey U sissies!

At least I'm not starving in the evening with all the fish I catch with it...

But as everyone hopefully noticed already I cut the pointy ends off and it's definitely safer now than any of your boards with sharp fins!!!!

( On the other hand I'm thinking about attaching some long nails at the ends, just in case I'm getting hungry once in a while or there are too many people on the water... )

rob - 1-10-2004 at 15:54

cheers chris i'll have to give some fins a try i think, i havent had much success so far...
