right-o folks... next home build project: kitesurf board!!!

fin sizes for the board? should i go for 2.5 or 3.5cm? theres only £4 difference between the two just wondered what the actual riding differences would be?

cheers...

oh and if anybody wants to donate an LEI you know where to find me!!

i could say the difference is £2 but then you might get upset.
choice is yours really;bigger fin on the heel edge will give you greater grip but slightly more drag whilst smaller ones on the toe side less chance of catching an edge;anyway riding for tooooo long on your toe side at a time will give you indegestion!
hope it helps.
psif you are getting some before tomorrow i could do with 4 2.5 s myself and if you are coming up to borth over this weekend Rob i will be there and will gladly pay you the sum required. i will be online for about 1`5 mins

Or you could just not bother with fins... Shem was out on his homemade purple monster today without any fins and got upwind better than he did on his Airrush board.

Thanks Al, The other cheaper option rob, is making your own fins, just lay up some fibre glass and cut them out, then sand in the foil,( profile), using an angle grinder. For a faster but less lasting result, make some ply fins, or better still hard wood.

Check www.zeroprestige.com for home made ideas.

...or if u're tempted by the best on the market (expensive) > there's always Bob's sleek and handcrafted Tarifa fins...Next to nothing drag & weight, super fast, super thin & SUPER strong.

Won't use anything else but these..

no fins? theres a thought. what material did you make the deck out of shem? i was gonna use marine ply until i saw the price of it, and get my dad to paint it up and put some serious coats of varnish or whatever he'd recommend to seal it / waterproof it.

Normal ply, not marine, due to cost, then laminated it top and bottom with 6oz fibre glass cloth and polyurathane resin, (same as surf boards), then hot coat it for a smooth finish. Bring a sealable tub, ( large jar) to the beach with you, and Ill give you some. It needs to be fibre glassed really to give it some ridgidness. Although you could make do with just a plank really, I just like playing around.
