Sunday 17th November – Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny.

Foil – 18.10 knot max, 16.92 knot ave, 9.57 knot hour, 13.85 knot mile, 30.10 km., 13.61 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After going to Levington yesterday but didn’t sail as the wind was too light I was keen to give it another try today especially as I haven’t been on the water since 24th October, a combination of covid and lights winds plus the passing of my Dad at the age of 94 and with it turning cold next week I wanted to make the most of the 9 degrees and sunshine! With a super moon, full at the moment and high tide around midday there was always going to be loads of water, I arrived at the marina at 9.30 and got some nice pics of the boats before parking up, quickly setting up my foil board, sail choice was harder as the wind was wnw a tad off so I decided to take a chance with my 6.5 which was OK, the wind was gusty with a good swell running down the river, so not a day to go fast! It was a day for hat, gloves and boots but I did not get cold even when I took a dip while tacking of all things! I started off seeing if there was any wind down towards Felixstowe docks so slowly beat back, if fact spent the rest of the session doing shortish runs mainly in front of the marina making it just past Levington creek in the end. It was lovely being the only windsurfer out in the sunshine but there were a few yachts and dinghies out making the most of the breeze and lumpy river plus a good selectiuon of birds flying past:) I was out a couple of hours and finished when the river was at its highest, pack up, shower, take a couple of pics of the high water before heading for home to see how Mags day went, she had had a great time sieving compost her absolute favourite thing to do:)
