Sunday 10th November - walks **** – Around Felixstowe and Levington
– mainly cloudy.
I was hoping for a sunrise shots of the big poppies on the seafront here in
Felixstowe for Remembrance Sunday but woke once again to cloud:( Just
before eight there was some small patches of blue so drove down to the
seafront near the pier to take a few weather pics with it being still
pretty cloudy but the sea was once again like a mill pool making it ideal
for the 17 open dippers I spotted in the sea. I did send a few pics in and
was lucky enough to get one choosen as a BBC Editers Pick but I don’t
think it made it onto the TV but they used it on Instagram:)
My plan was to head out at 10.30 to take pics of the Remembrance service so
took some rolls out of the freezer for a picnic later, we then got a
message asking if we could have Maeva for the afternoon which sounded
great:) I had time to do my exercises before leaving home and reached
Orwell Road just in time to see the armed forces march past to the
seadfront after a service at St. Johns Church. I then quickly whizzed down
the hill to near the town Hall in time to watch the procession arrive,
there was a really big crowd there to watch including John the harbour
master from the Ferry and two boats had rowed up too:) I managed to get a
nice selection of photos that captured the morning including the
didnitaries arrive including the mayor and local MP, the highlight as usual
was Kevin Harrold playing the last post:) I then moved across the road to
get the wreath laying then watch the troops march off as the sun actually
made an appearance:)
Then home to pack the picnic lunch and I still had time to sort my pics out
and post them on Facebook and send them to the local paper, it was lovely
to get some many likes from the local residents:)
We then went to pick Maeva up, she was very excited to see us and loves
trips out in our little VW camper and we drove over to Levington Marina for
lunch by the Orwell arriving at 2. It was a little nippy out as the sun had
long gone but there was still a few boats out and the diesal heater soon
warmed the van:) Maeva loved her picnic in her very smart tartan dress,
just so cute and then we went for a walk around the marina and Maeva was
soon fast asleep. Then home for another cuppa with Mag reading to Maeva,
her absolute favourite before she was picked up by her Dad around 6.30 to
end a really lovely day:)
Looking like tomorrow might be the best chance of some proper sunshine, its
been awhile now without it!
