Thursday 12th September - walk **** – Around Felixstowe including a picnic on the beach – sunny periods.

After two days of some full-on windsurf foiling and with the wind in the north it was time to give sailing a miss. The day started sunny but a tad on the chilly side, Autumn has definitely arrived but in our sheltered back garden it was surprisingly warm which meant I could do my exercises in the sunshine while Mag continues to potter with her plants. I took the rolls out of the freezer for our picnic lunch, not sure whether to go out on our bikes or walk. In the end we decided to go for a walk, I needed a small bolt for windsurfing so headed to Underwoods first and as usual they were very helpful:) We then continued to the car park at Brackenbury cliffs and walked down to the prom with some amazing clouds in the sky and with the breeze offshore it was very pleasant and the sweatshirt had to come off. We turned right and soon reached our spot on the beach with our backs to the wooden groyne we enjoyed our picnic and the tide slowly came in! It was very relaxing and we had a lovely time before we continued to Jacobs Ladder and onto Thje Fludgers and it was surprisingly quiet with those out dressed in coats despite the warm sunshine, thee was a bank of menacing black clouds but they were behind us and heading out to sea! Up through the Spa Gardens and the wind did briefly swing onshore which dropped the temperature but we were nearly home so it didn’t matter!
I headed down to Felixstowe Ferry to catch the sunset and then again at 10.30 to get a glimpse of the Northern Lights, got lucky, the stars and moon were fantastic too:)
