Wednesday 4th September - walk *** – Around Felixstowe – Sunny
start then cloudy.
After 5 windsurfing sessions in a row it was nice to have a light wind day
for a rest, the day started sunny so I could do my exercises in the garden
as the sun then disappeared as the cloud rolled slowly in. We have not done
much walking for a few days but were not sure where to go, in the end we
decided to drive to The Dip and walk to Felixstowe Ferry for a picnic by
the River Deben before returning along Tomline Bank hoping to pick some
plums! We left home just after midday going to the clifftop we spotted an
old barge sailing close to the beach at The Manor so made a detour down
there to take a few pics before continuing onto the windsurfing car park at
The Dip where we meet fellow windsurfer Simon C and had a nice catch-up
chat. We then walked along the very quiet prom with some dark clouds above.
We stopped at our usual spot at the mouth of the Deben for yummy egg
sandwiches before carrying onto the Ferry to watch the gulls. Through the
boatyard with the tide very high making it good for a few pics, then out
onto the Deben path turning left onto a very overgrown Tomline Bank path,
sadly no plums to be seen, so back to the van for a welcome cuppa and a
lovely phone call from our son Robert on a beach in Devon:)
