Monday 2nd September – Windsurf ** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny start then cloudy.

Foil – 18.19 knot max, 16.02 knot ave, 6.64 knot hour, 14.50 knot mile, 19.35 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Severne 1000 with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

The forecast for today was sunshine with a 15/20 knot breeze from the south, it started sunny but clouded over and the wind did not build until around midday! So I could do my exercises in the back garden in wall to wall sunshine, I interrupted them to take a couple of pics of Mags sunflowers and sent them to the TV weather and was pleased to get one on ITV’s About Anglia:) and by the time I returned to my exercises the sun had gone, it actually looked like rain! I then had to take my windsurf gear out of our van and put it back in my trailer and try to sort out a working boom. Both my lovely MK booms purchased in 2018 need new locking clips which I have now ordered while my old Chinook Race boom was squeezed with salt, I managed to free that and that the adjustable outhaul off and change a couple of ropes so I now have a boom to use with 6.5 being the smallest sail I can rig! I then had a ride done to The Manor to check the conditions, the high tide had passed and it was gusting to 15 knots so I returned to get my kit. Foil with 6.5 were soon set off and I thought I was in for a good session as I was soon up and flying, sadly after three long runs out to sea in nice smooth conditions the wind eased and I had to sail very slowly 2 miles back to shore, one more short run to check the wind before calling it a day!
