Friday 8th October – bike **** – Short Two Rivers including lunch at Landguard – cloudy and still.

Early morning prom walk ****

Had a bit of a disturbed night so we got up at 6.30 for a sunrise walk along Felixstowe prom at the end of our road. Sadly, it was very cloudy so only got the briefest glimpse of the sun as we walked to the end at The Manor end but it was very lovely none the less with the sea like a mill pool with very light winds and very mild too. There was a lot of dog walkers and joggers plus a few fishermen and open water swimmers and it is always nice to be out and about early, it is supposed to brighten up later so fingers crossed!

Short two rivers bike ride ****

After breakfast I managed to do my exercises, sadly not in the garden as had some light rain while Mag sorted out one of her water features. With still no sign of any sun but with very little wind we decided to make a chicken sandwich and bike down to Landguard to sit on the old jetty. The usual route taking us through Langer Park and onto the view point where the River Orwell was very still looking with a small crowd gathered to watch a large container ship about to come in with the tide very high! We continue along the river to our spot on the old jetty taking pics along the way of the three tugs manoeuvrings the huge container ship, three fishing boats also as well as the yellow foot ferry, so all go. We enjoy our yummy huge chicken sandwiches, sharing them with a young gull, with loads of cormorants flying back to Levington plus a wheatear, wagtails and gold finches:) Well rested to head back to the prom where Mag turns off by to pier to go to Lidl. It was a hive of activity as they set up an open-air cinema as part of loads of things involved with the finish here of the Ladies Cycle tour, the race ends tomorrow afternoon, we think we will give it a miss as can’t stand crowds! I take the prom all the way to Felixstowe Ferry getting some lovely pics of the moody River Deben:) Then home through the golf course getting a puncture by the cliff top car park, thank goodness for slime as no repair required, just a quick spin and pump it up! Home for cuppa and cake and perhaps out on the bikes tomorrow with possibly even some sunshine?
