Monday 25th January - walk ***** - Felixstowe sunrise prom walk – sunny and cold.

After missing yesterdays brief but lovely sunrise here in Felixstowe where the beach was thick with frosty ice we decided after another cold night to get up and go for a walk along the prom at Felixstowe which is just at the end of our road:) With sunrise at 7.45 we left home at 7.30 getting our first sight shortly later with a bank of cloud on the horizon looking very much like the mountains of the French Alps. The frost was not as thick as yesterday but it was cold around 0 degrees and you had to take care on the prom as there were patches of ice, I did end up on my back once, luckily, I escaped injury free but it was a worry as several elderly dog walkers were out and about! I made a slight detour behind The Manor Martello Tower to get some photos. Reaching the end of the prom we touch the railings before retuning as more people were venturing out. At the top of Convalescent Hill we spotted three squirrels chasing each other up and down the trees:) After walking our usual three miles it was good to get home for some yummy hot porridge. Then our three-canvas arrived which look great, sadly one had been damaged in transit hopefully that can be sorted quickly.

Bike **** - Felixstowe to Trimley Marshes – sunny and still cold.

After a great start to the day, the sunrise walk and with this being the best day of the week with wall to wall sunshine with rain arriving for the rest of the week we decided to make a flask and head out on our bikes to make the most of the sun and hope the roads were not too slippery! So, with my exercises complete we left home around one not sure were to go but ended up biking the four miles over to Trimley Marshes to have soup by the Orwell at the end of Felixstowe docks. Sticking to roads and farm tracks we made it fine although the Cordys Lane section was very muddy! Then back through Felixstowe docks, having to wait for a huge container train to leave before completing the ride through Langer Park and home.
