Friday 22nd January - bike ***** - Felixstowe circuit including lunch with ‘Emily’ – sunny.

Thank goodness Storm Christoph has moved away so I can forget about windsurfing thankfully and with wall to wall sunshine and light winds today before it gets colder at the weekend with snow possibly, we were keen to get out on the bikes to make the most of the good weather! So, another morning at home, me doing my exercises with Mag getting out in the garden for the second day in a row before I make a sandwich and we head out on the bike just before midday. It was the perfect day for a bike ride, deep blue sky with light winds as the cycle through Felixstowe town and out to Marsh lane avoiding the big puddles. We stop and have a quick look at the River Deben before continuing past Kings Fleet spotting a noisy Marsh Harrier and up to our favourite spot, Falkenham Church where our bench is once again free, we are so lucky to have this beautiful spot so close to home! We have a walk around the grave yard first to see the snow drops which are coming along nicely now:) We had the most fantastic time out in quiet Suffolk enjoying the view with a steady stream of birds all around including a kestrel, pigeions, robins, gold finches great tits, long tailed tits. Well rested we continued on to Kirton past two Buzzards annoying several pigeons so stopped to watch and there was still patches of frost on the leaves in the shade! Then Trimley high road, around Felixstowe academy before Mag heads for home while I carry onto the view point by Felixstowe docks, past a police officer checking to see how far people had driven to get there! The Orwell was lovely as usual, bathed in brilliant sunshine. There were two ferries entering port so load sof action before carrying on through Landguard Nature Reserve, along the prom and home. So a 17 mile ride around Felixstowe in perfect winter weather enjoying the best Suffolk has to offer, so lucky to live here!
