Friday 15th January - bike *** - Felixstowe circuit including lunch with ‘Emily’ – cloudy and still.

After yesterday’s washout when we had rain with strong cold winds all day, we were keen to get out on the bikes today especially with more rain, possibly snow coming tomorrow. The forecast snow failed to arrive but the wind was very light making it good for cycling :) So with exercises done a sandwich made with a flask of soup we set off well wrapped up at 12.15, after posting a card we drop down Bent Hill cycling through the Spa Gardens. Past The Fludgers turning inland to Marsh Lane and out into the quiet countryside avoiding all the puddles. Again, the farm gate is closed so after lifting our muddy bikes over we continue past the delict house coming out near the River Deben at the end of Kingsfleet. We have a quick look over the river wall before carrying on past Kingsfleet leading to the country lanes and onto Falkenham Church. Our bench is free so we enjoy our spicy parsnip soup with ‘Emily’. There are squirrels, a singing robin, a kestrel. Fat pigeons and various small birds we could not identify because of the dull light! After a relaxing break, not too long because our toes were getting chilly we walked around the grave yard in search of snowdrops, it is well known for them here and there were a few coming up, always lovely to see:) Then we continue onto Kirton, then Trimley High Road where we whizz along:) After a quick spot at the Co-op to buy a local paper as I have a pic in, I have had three in this week, got lucky:) Also got a pic on BBC’s Look East weather, yet another of Maggie’s back, she was over the moon :) Home in time for a warming cuppa with a home made rock cake!
