Things looked good for a nice session today but it didn't quite work out. First I got my finger trapped between my mast and boom and couldn't get it out as I only had one had free to do so. I managed it in the end but may have lost a fingernail in the process.

Once on the water, the 4.5m sail and big wave board was only just enough. I managed to get going for a while but should really have rigged the 5m. Adjusting downhaul and outhaul didn't make much difference. However, the tide was coming in quickly and was already touching the pebbles despite being 2.5 hours until high tide. I didn't therefore have time to change up to a bigger sail so just persevered without too much success.

To make matters worse, I had put my 5/3 winter suit on for the first time this year and I was far too hot. I was sweating like mad and not going anywhere fast. All I could think about was getting home for a cold shower to cool off which is what I did in the end. I think I'll stick to the 3/2 summer suit until temperatures are closer to freezing!

Maybe I'll have to try again later in the day once the tide has dropped. It was OK while I was going but never great.
