2nd January 2020 Windsurfing: Rhosneigr Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: F7 gust F8 Surf / Sea State: Big waves and chop Air Temperature: 9 Sea Temperature: 10.5 Weather: Overcast Max Speed: Distance Covered: Rigged 3.7m like most others with a few on 3.4m. Didn't get any gybes in as chop was worst I've seen in Rhosneigr. Valley said wind was 30 gusting 40+ knots which felt about right with gusts too much. Got buried by a mast-high breaking wave I tried to ride over and surfaced to see gear 40m away, then had an exhausting 500m (?) chase to shore. Had a couple more rides with gybes came off as chop subsiding as tide rose, with still big waves.Should have waited until sea cleaned up on rise before launching. People coming and going all day with about 20 wind/kite on water. |
