Biking: Trimley Marshes Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: 17.89 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 11.16 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Sunday 10th November – Walk & Bike ***** Felixstowe Remembrance Service and Trimley Marshes – sunny. I haven’t been windsurfing since the 31st of October as it’s turned cold with mostly light winds so Mag and I have been very busy decorating the whole of the inside of our house, completing the best part of seven rooms but with wall to wall sunshine today it was time for a day off. I headed down the seafront to take pics of Felixstowe’s Remembrance Day Service with the sea like a mill pool and crystal blue sky. As usual it was a moving service with a mix of medalled veterans and youngsters and I managed to get some interesting shoots:) Back home I sorted out my pics and sent some to the local paper before setting off on our bikes to make the most of the lovely weather. Mag had been sorting things in the house but had made a sandwich as we headed to the Suffolk Wildlife reserve at Trimley Marshes avoiding the busy prom. It’s a bit of a trek and the reserve lane past Felixstowe docks is very bumpy and it has just been done too! I went up on the river wall and the Orwell was very low and still with a few boats moving, very pretty indeed. We headed to the last bird hide overlooking the winter flood which was full of water. Not a huge variety of birds, mainly ducks, shovellers, teal, pintails, widgeon, shell, pochards, geese, herons, cormorant’s, a solitary curlew and gulls. The best bit being when a couple of Marsh Harriers did a fly past which put all the birds in a frenzy but they soon calmed down as the birds of prey disappeared! Having finished our sandwich, we continued along the river path, past the three dead trees to Levington Bay and I don’t think I have seen the river so low! It was then a case of following the tree lined paths back to Trimley seeing again a large herd of deer in the middle of a field. Mag struggled a little in the muddy conditions and it might be time for an electric mountain bike! At Cordys Lane we took the main road back home being out 2 hours 40 minutes covering over 11 sunny miles. It is forecast breezy for a couple of days but chilly so I hope to get out windsurfing at Levington or perhaps Point Clear on Tuesday? Photo Gallery Here |
