Windsurfing: Golf Course, Borth Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 15-10-15kts Surf / Sea State: small waves, lumpy further out Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Arrived in Borth around 1-ish and it all looked a bit bleak. Drove down to
the estuary... nobody there. Then went to Golf course and met up with Al &
Andy. Wind picked up enough for big kit .... or so I thought so rigged 8m
and Techno - hadn't sailed for over a month so went for my larger board.
Had some very bouncy runs out over closely spaced waves but really enjoyed
some smoother wave riding on the way back in. Wind dropped so came back in
for a coffee while Al went kiting. 30mins later I'd discovered that Andy
worked with my ex from years ago (small world huh!) ....and more
importantly the wind picked up a bit. Steve then appeared but Andy was
first back out ....from the back of the beach it didn't look that windy but
from his run out it had clearly picked up a lot.
Went back out and enjoyed more of the same. Should have really gone for my
smaller board+sail at this point but couldn't be bothered re-rigging. Close
formation sailing with Al on the way back in was a new experience.....
really emphasises how fast you're going.
Gybes were crap, don't think I completed one dry, but 4 stars all the same.
Would've been 5 had I changed to a more suitable board/sail. Later on cold
beer, good company and a lock-in made it a perfect start to the weekend!
