Beautiful, as good as it gets. Cros-offshore, nice waves and the sun was
shining.
I let the wind settle down a bit and the tide drop off and when I got to
the beach there were three other windsurfers stood around watching the
conditions. I didn't know who they were so I rigged my 5m and Naish Hybrid
Freewave and got out there. Well powered up straight away and with a bit of
an audience launched stright into a back loop attempt of the first big
wave. Didn't get close but it was a good start.
Out the back and with the wind gusting to 40 knots I was a little
overpowered but able to hang on. back in and onto a perfect down-the-line
wave ride. This was going to be a good day.
A couple more runs along the same lines and then back in to chat to the
other guys. One of them had a few cracked ribs so was chief photographer
for the day, the other was a little uncomfortable with the conditions and
the third was up for sailing but finding it hard work.
The rest of the day continued as before. Well powered the whole time and a
little over-powered at times. Lots of jumps, lots of really nice
wave-rides, especially a little later on once the tide turned and the swell
picked up for a while. The occasional back loop attempts and some lovely
blasting in the sunshine out the back.
Perfect, but once again very few people around and no kiters??
