Well, that was yet another adventure on the high seas!

Met Shem on the beach so I wasn't out on my own for a change and went out with my 5.7m and Niash Hybrid Freewave. Well powered and having a good time, then the wind filled in a little so I came in and made a few adjustments and went back out. again I was having a good time out there, well powered with some nice controlled jumps on the way out and some nice fast but bumpy blasting the way in. I decided I would be OK with my 5m so came in to change down as Shem got off the water too.

Back out with the 5m and blasting along nicely, floated off the back of a piece of swell on the back and snapped my mast extension... Not again, another big swim dragging my kit with me. I didn't really feel like ditching the rig even though it was quite an encumberance as it had my brand new 400cm (250) mast in it, so I gritted my teeth and got on with the swimming.

I wasn't sure if Shem was still on the beach or not and if he had seen me. As it turns out he could see my kit through his binoculars but couldn't actually see me (I was quite a way out) so he had called the lifeboat. I manged the swim much quicker than I thought and not long after I got back to the beach with my broken kit saw the lifeboat turning back towards Aberdovey Shem had phoned to say I was now OK) and was then greeted by the RNLI landrover who had to take down our names.

I'm obviously OK and the swim didn't actually take quite as long as last weeks. My board hasn't faired quite so well though as it has a large mast-shaped hole in its deck and a few other scratches and scrapes. Grrrrr.... Another expensive session. The actual sailing was good though.
