Monday 13th May - walk **** – Martlesham Wilds including a picnic by the creek – sunny and hot.

A sunny warm day here on the coast at Felixstowe, I had hoped to have a windsurf foil at The Manor but sadly the wind did not play ball so after my exercises and Mags return from Lidl we decided to give our van a run out as we have having problems with the engine missing. After filling up with diesel hoping that might improve things we continued over to the lovely Martlesham church. We usually head over to Kyso point but this time we ambled around the new Martlesham wilds nature reserve, hearing our first cuckoo of the year and a muntjac deer had a good look at us! Once again it was very quiet and we only saw a couple of ladies also having their lunch out in the sunshine. We headed up having our picnic on the steps of the sluice on the edge of Martlesham creek with mullet splashing, shell ducks with the odd wader too:) We then continued to the small boatyard with several swans and back up the steps and return to the van after another nice walk in wonderful Suffolk:)

PS - wow what a top day for TV pics, started when Chris Page used one of mine from the weekend on ITV's About Anglia but best of all I got a huge mention from Julie on BBC's Look East quoting nearly word for word the details of the amazing northern Lights last Friday and used two pics - chuffed beyond words.

This is my account of the night I sent i:)

Just had the most amazing night of my 70 years at Felixstowe Ferry taking pics of the northern lights, it was going great until I dropped my glasses into the River Deben as the tide was coming in and couldn't find them, a big thank you to the lovely young lady with a mobile phone torch who helped me try and find them!
