What a day!!! It's not often that I travel in order to windsurf as I usually have everything I need on my doorstep, but today the forecast looked much better further North so I headed off to Dinas Dinlle at around 10.45 am. I had a good drive, getting more and more excited as I headed North as I could see it was getting windier and windier. When I left Borth it was about 10 knots, by the time I got to Trawsfynydd there were whitecaps on the alke. Byt the time I got to Porthmadog things were lookgin good and by the time I got to Dinas Dinlle at around 12.30pm it was blowing its tits off!!

I went out with a 5m and was soon overpowered so came back in and changed down to my 4.5m. It took a while to get used to sailing in a different location and took me a while to get my set up right, but the wind was howling, there were some good waves and jumping was the order of the day. Nice big jumps off the waves and some good ones off the chop too. I even managed a few wave rides on the way back in, including one pretty good one which I decided was the wave to finish the day on. Basically with the wind gusting to 40 knots I was well powered in the lulls, but a little overpowered in the gusts.

Good to meet a couple of other guys up there as well, who both had a good day despite being a little overpowered most of the time. They were a little compromised as far as kit goes as well, after forgeting an extension and breaking a 5m sail during rigging.

The drive back was pretty good too (about 1.5 hrs) and satidfying as the wind was dropping all the way so I could tell I had made the right decision to head North. Back at Borth and the wind was around 15 knots.... I love it when a plan comes together!!!
