Deciced to give Berrow ago as wind was Southerly in the channel but could see from internet sites that it was swinging west in Ireland,Cornwall & Devon & so hopefully in the cahnnel to?
Drove down through mist & fog & no wind with fingers crossed, got to Berrow & it was Southerly bout 10kts,sat there for a while watching storms coming up the channel,Very grey not alot of wind & pissing down :(
Then it all blew through,i could see Barry island & south Wales very clearly with my Binocs, they wernt strong enough to see if Kelvin was out though :) ,but in the middle of the channel it looked well windy, so rigged up 5.7 & big board but still only 10knts S on the the beach.
By the time i was putting on my suit it took about 3mins to swing from South to west & start picking up & the sun was now blasting.
Had 3 runs on the Flow, wind now picking up loads,Lovely.
Went & rigged 5.0 & 90lt Naish (left flow & 5.7 up just incase),it was perfect for 4 runs now with loads of wind blown swell about, but wind kept going up,Lovely.
Went back to van again & got 76lt wave board which was purfect (put Flow & 5.7 away).
Sorted 25 knts Sunny & loads of ramps about which seemed loads better than WSM!
Disater the wind dropped & i was now sailing a submarine... Bollocks
I was gonna call it day, but once again out came the flow & i plugged in the 5.0 what a diifernce 26lts make, was flying again, but after bout 20mins wind went back up in an instant & that flow was way to fast & bouncy in the surf, once again out came the 76lt.
With a constant 25+ knts spent the next 90 mins maxed on 5.0 with big jumps etc etc & i was the only one out.Lovely.....
Have started sailing bear foot so much better should ave done it years ago,
Could have sailed to sunset but they lock the gates at 8pm which is crap...
5 board changes & 2 sails used, needed a caddy....
