First day on the slopes in a year so it was off to the top of the mountain for an easy ride down a blue and to try and hook up with mates who were staying in Val D'Isere. A few adjustments to the bindings and every thing was fine.

Dropped down two runs and made a couple of calls on the mobile only to bump into them at the next chairlift. They were looking slightly shabby having started the holiday off in the pub at 3 the previous afternoon. We explored the valley between Val D and Tignes and were pleasantly surprised at the lack of queues. The pistes were in excellent condition as there had been snow for the previous 2 days so most runs were open.

Had to part company at 12 as my girlfriend had finished her lessons and I was to board with her in the afternoon. We organised to meet each morning and I headed back to Tignes via my first black run of the holiday called Trolles. Not too bad but getting a few moguls by then.

Spent the afternoon on the beginners slope with Michelle as she practiced linking turns. Apres drinks in the bar followed by loads of vin rouge at the chalet; a good start.
