Good forecast so booked afternoon off work. Left Birmingham in strong wind and bright sunshine; arrived Blithfield to flat calm and pouring rain. Wind came back a little so rigged up 6.7m; wind came back some more so rigged 5.3 and got very wet. About to go out and it started to thunder and lightning and wind died again. Power knocked out by lightning strike.

After several hours rain and lightning cleared and wind came back, gusty. Had some excellent screaming runs on the Bee and 6.7 Supersonic, picking a line throught the chop and carving about at high speed. Tried sheeting in more after coming across onto the inside edge during gybes - this seems to help power the board through the turn.

Wind became too much for 6.7 so tried the 5.3 with Max 2 Air. Not quite enough. Ended up de-rigging in the dark but a good session after a frustrating start. Well worth taking the afternoon off work.
