Monday 19th December - Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington – cloudy but mild with some light rain.

Foil – 20.94 knot max, 18.28 knot ave., 7.58 knot hour, 17.9 knot mile, 15.53 km., 15.28 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 5.2.

I have been looking forward to today for ages 10 degrees with a fresh southerly breeze, I was hoping it was not going to be too windy and with high water at 7.30 it was not the best tide but I was desperate to get on the water as my last session was 22 days ago! The rain had thankfully stopped and I arrived at Levington Marina with just enough water to launch from our usual little beach so I quickly set up, rigging a 5.2 as the wind was gusting to 25 knots! I then had to walk right back to the marina slipway to find someone to zip me into my wetsuit as I was Billy no mates again today:( I launched just before 10 and beat out of the marina entrance and then spent a couple of hours playing hunt the gust as the wind was a little up and down but when it was up the 5.2 was ideal perfect for gybing and I was surprised to do some crackers especially after a long break! I spent most of the session having gybe fun on the corner with only my feet getting chilly having to steer clear of a coaster heading out to sea! I then had a long slow run up towards Pin Mill but had a good sail back so I did it again and was surprised to get a good mile as I was not pushing too hard! So close to two hours on the water it was time to call it a day, landing easily near the marina entrance, pack up, hot shower and home for one. Great to be back on the water, might get out again this week too :)
