Thursday 12th May – walk **** – Holywells Park, Ipswich – sunny and
warm:).
After a couple of days of full-on windsurfing it was nice to have a day off
although it ended up breezy enough to sail, yesterday’s gloom with rain was
replaced by sunshine. So, exercises in the garden before I packed a lunch,
then Mag and I headed over to Ipswich for a picnic in Holywells Park before
visiting my Dad:) We arrived at 12.30 and walked by our usual entrance
flowing the duck weed stream with a family of Coots including three funny
looking young with their scruffy red heads. We then did a circuit of the
beautiful but compact park full of some really impressive trees. We walked
past the stables and conservatory ending up at our seat by the small lake
and were entertained while we had our lunch by a large family of rats, an
egret with a few male ducks, the females must be on their nests! We chatted
to several nice people also out enjoying the lovely weather and beautiful
park:) We sat there for ages before ambling back to the van spotting a
family of geese with one youngster. Then off to see my Dad, the journey
there was a problem due to road closures but we got there in the end. We
found him in the garden and had a nice catch up over a cuppa before heading
back to Felixstowe with no trouble on the roads!
