Saturday 17th July - bike ***** - Felixstowe circuit Ė sunny and hot.

Even though Arlo didnít sleep well he woke up fine and had a cool breakfast of toast with the choice of 5 toppings including marmite, strawberry jam, lemon curd, peanut butter and honey:) He then helped Mag tip out the potatoes she has been growing and got kilos, canít wait to eat them later! Another hot and sunny day and I thought Rob would want to go on his sup but again fancied another bike ride. So, while the girls stayed at home Rob, Arlo and me set off on our bikes at 11.20 for a short ride heading down to the lovely shady, cool woods at The Grove coming out on Gulpher Road where we see a herd of calves with some paddling in a pond before turning down Marsh Lane where we watch a tractor turning over the hay and get a wave from the driver, Arlo loves a tractor and can name them all! Past the delict house coming out at Kings Fleet before taking the Deben River path to Felixstowe Ferry, stopping to see the house boats well known for the hippopotamus in the mud! Reaching the Ferry sailing club, the river was full of dinghies returning from the Saturday morning kids sailing. We sat on the beach and watched them land and pull their board up the steep shingle bank with the old barge we saw yesterday out to sea with a container ship heading out too! Then we carry on past the golf course which is busy with walkers making the most of the sunshine and meet our windsurfing friends The Hurrell sitting at the windsurfing beach hut at The Dip, stopping for a chat. We then see Mandy another friend walking to a friendís beach hut so stop again before taking back roads through to town to home and lunch. We were out for 2 hrs covering only 8.18 miles! With Felixstowe now heaving with visitors we all drive down to The Dip where the windsurfers have a small car park so we park easily. The only problem now is the tide is fairly high meaning there is not much beach and the breeze has picked up making it choppy, so not ideal SUP conditions! Rob was keen to try out his new Mistral sup so while he pumped that up, Hannah put Arlo in his cool wetsuit while Mag walked over for a chat with Linda Hurrell:) Rob, Hannah and Arlo had fun in the waves before Rob set off for a bumpy paddle over to the shingle bank, landing to watch the yachts sail past and the coast watch boat also came past. Rob made it back with only one fall and while packing up the Electric surf board man came down and entertained us with some spectacular wipe-outs! Then home for tea, finish watching Luca and Arlo went to bet fine and had a much better night:)
