Had not considered going windsurfing today but after a message from Super Keen Robert on WhatsApp asking if anyone was going to Levington and after quickly checking the wind I got up, had breakfast and headed to the marina for the second day running! No walk for Mag today but she said she would bike down with lunch at one especially as it was a nice sunny start to the day:) Robert and I arrived together, my first stop was the posh toilet block hoping to find my bike bottle I left there yesterday and luckily it was there! With high water just after eleven there was plenty of water but the wind looked marginal at best. I tried the wind gauge by the waters edge with the west gusting to 15mph so we decided to give it a try especially as the sun was out:) I rigged as yesterday my 8.5 while lightweight Robert went for 6m, in hind sight he would have been much better off with his 7.5! We then had a pleasant couple of hours searching out gusts that were coming down the river, so a mix of flying and slogging but luckily much milder than yesterday, much easier on my poor old hands:) We had to avoid two large coasters heading out from Ipswich and there are now several yachts. We could have sailed much longer as the tide seemed reluctant to drop but, in the end, we were let down by the breeze so decided to call it a day. Again, top shower and after Robert had left for home, I took my big lens out for a walk up the river getting some nice pics of some Turn Stones, there was even a few drops of rain as the skies darkened! I had a nice chat up with Birthday Boy and recent father Jamie who I have not seen for ages, will be nice to see each other out on the water soon! Mag arrived on her bike around 1.45 and we enjoyed lunch with a nice view of the Orwell while the disabled sailing boats were being readied for the season while youngsters headed across the river to sail dinghies from the pontoon:)
There are a couple of day of cold winds from the north, I might check out the River Stour at Bradfield on Sunday, will see how cold it gets tomorrow?
