Lockdown part two and after reading the latest from the RYA which seems to allow windsurfing I was keen to make the most of wall to wall sunshine and a nice onshore 15 knot breeze, well we got the sun but not the wind:( As it was such a lovely day here in Felixstowe and The Manor car park is now pay I thought I would have trouble parking down that way so headed to The Dip, not an ideal foiling venue! After doing my exercises I headed down around 11.30 taking Mag for her to walk home. The wind looked promising but with the wind being dead onshore the sea was fairly big and with it only going to get worse I did think hard about going out! In the end I set up my foil and didn’t want to use too big a sail in the large sea so went for my 7m. I got off the beach OK but there was never enough wind to get flying, shame really as a great direction for cruising along the coast. There was a big sea running and I was nervous of returning to the beach as the groynes are very close together down here! Two kitesurfers tried but gave up very quickly so I decided to head back while I still had some beach left! I landed OK and managed to get my board ashore OK but was a little slow getting my sail in and have a big hole in the top panel which is not a problem as it is already pretty well knackered! So that was a complete waste of time but I have learned that The Manor end is by far the best local foiling beach! Looks like little wind in the forecast so perhaps time to get out on our bikes!
