Monday 23rd September– Windsurf ***** - The Manor - Felixstowe – sunny periods.

F2 Zantos 295 with 39 fin and Tushingham Lightning 7m.

Fin – 27.17 knot max., 25.26 knot ave., 14.24 knot hour, 23.74 knot mile, 38.52 km., 16.19 knot alpha.

After yesterday when the wind didn’t play ball here in Felixstowe, I was keen to get out today. I was in no hurry to get down as again it was raining, high tide too so after doing my exercises, watch England win against the USA I headed down to The Manor. Swainy and Paul Smith were already there but the wind was well off so not keen to go out despite Landguard showing 20 knots apparently. Then Andy Mexome and Ian Clarke arrived and we decided to give it a go especially now the sun was coming out and the sea looked fairly flat. I nearly rigged 7.8 for my 133 lt. but went for 7m in the end while Andy rigged 7.3 and Ian 6.2. With the wind cross off there was a wind shadow but we had half an hour of planing conditions just, I was well under most of the time again. I had managed to beat towards the Orwell but then the wind switched off again and I wobbled back just making the groyne I started! It looked like that was it so we had a chat on the beach and started to pack up. Then the wind came back side shore so I went out again with Ian but Andy had already packed up:( It was now gusting to 20 knots and the sea keep smooth for a few runs before picking up big and messy again. I soon upped my max from 24 to 27 knots and got an OK average and was brave enough to try for two fast mile runs out to Wadegate Post and got a couple of 23’s. So the 2 star session went to 4 in the end and fingers crossed for a trip to Point Clear tomorrow, the only problem being is the high is fairly early and we might run out of water before it arrives!
