Windsurfing: Dahab Wind Direction: N Wind Stength: F3 to F4 falling to nothing 2p Surf / Sea State: Flat everywhere Air Temperature: 35 Sea Temperature: 25 Weather: Clear Blue 100% Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got out late, about 11am. Went broad out to the speedy, 'cos I now knew it
was the only hope of some decent wind. Took the biggest stuff that the
Dahab "Fun System" have, a Naish Titan160 and Pryde (something) 7.4. After
I got there I planed up wind to the sand spit corner and beached. It was
beautiful. The contrasting blues of sky, sea and coral were amazing. So
relaxing, especially as gybing was like a walk in the park by now. Tony and
Darren arrived downwind so I went broad out to join them. They couldn't get
up wind so then went back across the lagoon and I went up high again. Did
some ducks and two worked (a bit). Then I beached and tried to fix a broken
footstrap on my board with a ring pull. It is a good 30 mins back from here
in lighter winds. A German "expert" was sitting on the sand like a stranded
migrating bird waiting for the breeze to freshen. A girl on an old Score
arrived on a 6.2 and waterstarted in absolutely nothing. Then the wind died
and I barged home, helitacking all the way. The Egyptian windsurfing squad
for the Olympics were training in the lagoon going quite well up wind. I
couldn't match them at all.
