Arrived there about 5ish with Justal packing up speaking to Adjesq. had a little chat with them both and decided to rig the Bic freelite 5.5 as the wind was still relatively strong. They both helped me rig and
Adjesq helped carry the sail down to the waterside, thanks for that Andrew.
Got onto the water 15mins later and the wind had dropped slightly. Managed to get going on my first tack, then turned round and once I got going again; the board just span out of control from the rear. Realised the fin had come loose and was hanging on by a thread so nursed it back in and tightened the screw up. After the 15 min delay; got onto the water again and the board was on the plane straight away as a squall came through. After a few more tacks, the wind dropped further making it hard to keep upwind. The currents were very strong so I was drifitng downwind all the time.
After a while, decided to give up as tiredness set in with the marginal conditions and there was gonna be a walk of shame ahead. Came in and packed up whilst Derek arrived and went out with his big kite in which he was also stuggling to keep upwind.
Once I was ready to set of, had a look for Derek and he was no wear to be seen. I spotted him and he was downwind at the lifeboat station in Borth. Realising he would need a lift to get back and save him having a 2 mile walk, I set of and took him back to the car park.
The conditions were ideal upon arrival but throughout the session, the wind was dropping further and further. It made it hard work and I was getting pretty tired. Having 3 hours sleep the night before due to coursework deadlines also didnt help. Gonna give it a 3 stars as it was good to get out again especially in the much warmer spring conditions. Just hope tomorrow brings more of the same.
